Traffic wasn't so bad coming home from work today and the sun was shining so beautifully that I decided to pull over by the "open space reserve" and scope out the trails for this weekend. I've been wanting to take Ami on a long hike up those hills for the longest time now and it seems that since the rain has finally passed we may head out that way on Sunday. I shot just a few pictures there today and that just made me more excited to climb to the top of those hills.
Sundays are for staying in doors, all-day sleep wear, and somersaults.

Found on Phone// LA Gloom

LA hasn't been particularly gloomy the last few days (since last week really) but I just found these suckers in my picture gallery. My friend says I work in Downtown and the Hubs says I work in South Central. I disagree with both of them; I'm somewhere in between. Regardless of how we want to classify where I work, most of the pictures on my phone are of the neighborhood that surrounds the University and the sights I see as I make my way to the freeway. The best way that I can describe it is just plain and simple: L.A.

Found on Phone//Ami

Although I have multiple cameras my go-to is always my phone. I love the good -- yet lo-fi -- quality of pictures I can take. The ease of whipping out my phone to take pictures has resulted in an image over-load and I usually end up taking about 20 pictures a day on my phone alone. Sometimes I snap so many I forget that I took them and they stay on my phone for months. That is exactly what happened with these gems. I believe these were taken in December because 1) Ami still had hair/ horribly cut bangs; and 2) we are outside El Campion waiting for tamales (early bird trip to El Campion for tamales could only mean holiday  time).

I can't get over how much he looks like a baby. He's face has thinned a little bit and now he looks like a big kid. It really seems like he grows overnight. I've been thinking of taking his picture everyday like that guy who took his picture everyday for 8 years, but I don't know if I can pull it off. It would be cool though, to see the subtle-to-extreme changes in his appearance through the years, or maybe just months.

Andrew//Turning 3

AJT turned three at some point between February 28 and March 1. Born only 1 month and 9 days after Ami, these two have been friends since the true beginning. The party, as all Inglewood house parties go, was awesome and we had so much fun dancing to the music and playing in the jump house (even though I had to intervene more than once with Ami's troubling decision to tackle the largest kid in there).
Lissette asked me to take pictures and I was on board for the 3pm-5pm pictures which do not require flash. I hate. hate. hate. flash pictures, particularly since my little Nikon d50 has a pee-wee flash, but luckily the night-time pictures weren't too bad since a tall desk lamp was put outside to light the pinata area. So all in all I a lot happier with the pictures than I thought I would be (not bad for bad lighting and only my 50mm lens).

04 March 2011

Last Sunday, while LA was bustling with Oscar energy, I headed to Westchester to pick up the Bubs, other wise known as Elizabeth aka the closest thing I have to a sibling, so that we could take our Nikons to Hermosa Beach.   Bubs got some excellent pictures and I am so happy to finally have images of my son and I together and not just a million pictures of the kid. Of course, we both still took about 100 pictures of Ami, but we also turned the camera on each other and got some good shots.

we even let Ami take a turn and he did a pretty awesome job:

I think it was decided that we should do this more regularly. I can't wait to get out more with the camera and geek out over picture taking spots with my oldest friend.

No Normandie

Was mad at the hubs yesterday for wanting to get his Harley (when he has a perfectly good Honda) so I decided to treat myself to a solo Amoeba trip. Sometimes, driving around in this city -- even with its horrific traffic -- I miss living in the heart of the city.

Loves//My Boys

Finally got my film developed. Only took about 5 months. But it was such a nice surprise to see my loves looking so different back then.
